“Challenges in treatment young female patients patients with cancer-optimal approach“

Delayed reproduction is associated with increasing need for assisted reproduction, higher rates of pregnancy complications, but also the diagnosis of cancer in women without offspring which needs options for fertility preservation in these patients The diagnostic and therapeutic approach of the young patient with malignancy is extremely complex and challenging, and needs intensive follow up regimen. It necessarily requires a multidisciplinary approach with the close collaboration of gynecologist-oncologist, reproductive endocrinologist, and perinatologist. The European Society of Gynecologic Oncology and European Society for Human Reproduction as also American Society for Human Reproduction has task force in preserving fertility without compromising oncological outcome . Fertility is a major concern among women who survived cancer . Reproductive function could vary from regular menstrual cycles with normal endocrine profiles,m enstrual disorders as oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea, but also early menopause -POF (premature ovarian failure). The Childhood Cancer Survivor Study have identified specific anticancer therapies that adversely affect childhood cancer quality-of-life outcomes. One of the aim of pharmacogenetics is improve quality of life without compromising the excellent cure rates for many childhood cancers. Avoiding radiation and drugs that damage the DNA is the most important area of investigation to really address this problem by preventing it.
