Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age .It affects 5-10% of the women population. Women with PCOS have been found to have impaired sexual function .The purpose of this study was to investigate sexual quality of life and psychological disorders among females with PCOS comparing with non-PCOS. Methods: This was a cross- sectional study in which 300 women were recruited from which, 150 women had PCOS and 150 without it. The sampling method was convenient using Rotterdam criteria from General Women’s center in which women are referred for check up, family planning and pre-natal follow-ups. Two main questionnaires were used including Symptoms Checklist-90 (SCL90) and sexual quality of life-female (SQOL-F). Data were analyzed with SPSS software using Independent sample t-test. Result: Significantly higher rates of nine different subscales of SCL90 were seen in women with PCOS consist of: Hostility, Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive, Interpersonal Sensitivity, Somatization, Psychoticism, Paranoid Ideation, depression and Phobic Anxiety (P<0.001). Mean ± SD of Global Severity Index (GSI) was 0.82 ± 0.59, Positive Symptom Total (PST) was 48.26 ±19.41 and Positive Symptoms Distress Index (PSDI) was 0.02 ± 0.01. Women with PCOS had significantly higher scores in GSI and PSDI but not in PST. There were no significant differences between PCO and non-PCO cases in all subscales of SQOL-F. Conclusion: Although PCO patients had more psychological symptoms but in sexual quality of life, there seems not to be a problem.
